1. Taiwan & French Update & Dutch Accents

I’ve been silent the past few weeks. My French learning has slowed down, because I’ve been hectic busy with moving out of my flat, visiting family and now I’m packing again for Taiwan.

I did a big blog post on Confused Laowai about my plans for 2013: Moving to Taiwan. I’m done with Masters and I’m heading to Taiwan to improve my spoken Chinese.

With to regards to French, I’m waiting to settle down in Taipei, to pick it up again. It was a topsy turvy month and a half for me, so my habits were completely lost.

In other news, I recently watched a movie called “The Way”, about hikers on the Camino de Santiago. There was a Dutch traveller among them.

I’ve always wanted to learn Dutch, because of it’s close relation to Afrikaans. The Dutch English accent was immensely fascinating to listen to. The whole movie long I mumbled his words to try and recreate it.

I can understand Dutch to a big extent, but production is not possible. I’m going to explore the possibility of learning some Dutch to try and speak it, but for now, first Taiwan, then back into French mode and then some Dutch :)
